Seva Activities (March 08 - June 09)
In the Financial Year April 2008 - March 2009, YSS spent 6.14 crore on seva activities.
Bihar Flood Relief, September 2008 Devotees of Muzaffarpur helped those affected by floods in the district by purchasing, arranging transportation, ensuring proper security, and distributing essential items including food packets, candles, matches, large polythene sheets, and clothes.
Cyclone Aila Relief Work, West Bengal, May 2009 YSS undertook relief operations for villagers hit by Cyclone Aila on May 25, 2009, on the island of Gosaba in the Sunderbans, South 24-Parganas. A team of YSS sannyasis and devotees, with the help of local volunteers at Gosaba, distributed rice, dal, potatoes, tarpaulins, and mosquito nets to affected families, and milk powder for the children. Aid was extended to 565 families (some 3,000 persons) who were seriously hit by the cyclone.
Scholarships Apart from the existing scholarships, a new scholarship “Paramahansa Yoganada Merit-Cum-Means Balika Scholarship” was introduced this year with a generous contribution from a kind-hearted devotee. This scholarship helps meritorious girl students pursuing professional courses, who are in need of financial help.![]() Many students, identified by the Dhyana Kendras/Mandalis across the country, were benefited. In the year 2008 - 2009, YSS has given Rs 15 lakh under various scholarship schemes Education ![]() Yogoda Satsanga Mahavidyalaya, Jagannathpur, Ranchi, started vocational courses to help students cope with market requirements. The Vidyalaya is one among the 100 institutions in the country, and the only one in Jharkhand, to provide need-based education to school/college dropouts to make them employable. ![]() An evening batch for intermediate course will commence in the Vidyalaya, to cope with the increasing demand for these classes.
