Songs of My Heart
Audio CD

“Music is a divine art, to be used not only for pleasure but as a path to God-realization,” wrote Paramahansa Yogananda. In his book Cosmic Chants, from which the musical selections on this recording are taken, Paramahansaji also said, “Each of [these chants] has been spiritualized; that is, at various gatherings each song has been sung aloud and mentally until the chanters found actual response from God.” Listening to these chants and prayers imbues the heart with deep spiritual peace and an awareness of the Divine Presence.

Digitally remastered, this CD is a combination of the two cassettes: Chants and Prayers and Songs of My Heart, along with a new selection, Divine Mother’s Song to the Devotee.

Awake in the Cosmic Dream

By Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda

Recorded just two months before his passing, this talk captures Paramahansa Yogananda's spontaneous words of loving appreciation and spiritual counsel to a group of close disciples and friends during a gathering in honour of his birthday. With engaging humour and compassionate understanding, he conveys why making God a reality in our lives is the only permanent solution to the enduring problems of human existence. Through personal stories and practical guidance, he gives an unforgettable glimpse of what it is to be truly awake in the blissful consciousness of the Divine.

Topics include:

  • The cosmic drama and our roles in the "show"
  • The secret of attaining unconditional happiness
  • The cause and cure of human suffering
  • Colourful anecdotes and stories, including: why the Greek philosopher Diogenes returned the gift of a carpet; the greedy schoolboy whose mind was always "on the platter, not on his own plate"; and "All for a Rag," which shows how one desire leads endlessly to another

Beholding the One in All

By Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda

The first in our special Collector's Series of rare recorded talks by Paramahansa Yogananda was made during an informal gathering at the SRF International Headquarters in 1949. With illustrations from the Indian scriptures, humorous and instructive incidents from his own life, and the deep insights flowing from his direct perception of Truth, Paramahansaji shows that there is one great purpose in this stupendous drama of creation: to coax us to look beyond the illusions of this transitory life and discover the glory and the love of God.

To hear the Great Guru's words makes us feel the power, wisdom, and all-embracing love and compassion of his God-illumined consciousness.

Be a Smile Millionaire

By Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda

Paramahansa Yogananda speaks of the inner joy of the soul and how we can live in such a way that our lives reflect and radiate all beautiful and noble qualities that give expression to that joy. Paramahansaji relates many colourful stories from his own life to help us see that we do not have to acquire anything outside ourselves. Everything we are seeking in people, conditions, and events-all the love, power, happiness, and fulfilment-is already ours; we have only to remember what even now exists within our souls.

Chants and Prayers
By Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda
"Music that is saturated with soul force is the real universal music," wrote Paramahansa Yogananda, "understandable by all hearts." In the closing years of his life, recordings were made of some of his original chants and prayers, as well as traditional Indian bhajans.
Paramahansa Yogananda was probably the first to provide English words for many of India's traditional hymns and bhajans. "Sound or vibration," Yogananda tells us, "is the most powerful force in the universe." His own voice, charged with the conviction and deep joy of one who knows God, has a penetrating effect. Listening to him chant and pray, one's consciousness is perceptibly lifted.

Contents include:

  • Prayer at Dawn
  • O God Beautiful!
  • Hay Hari Sundara! (Hindi)
  • What Lightning Flash!
