Justice Murtaza Hussain, spoke of the relevance of Yoga in the 21st century with all its challenges and opportunities. He expressed reverence for Paramahansa Yogananda for his mission of showing to the world the underlying unity among all religions through his yoga teachings. Expressing concern over the widening gap between the countries all over the world, Justice said that the efforts made by Paramahansaji through his worldwide organisation YSS/SRF would play a predominant role in bringing peace to the world.
Swami Nityananda emphasized the universality of yoga, its scientific and practical nature, and its suitability to people of all religions. Swamiji said that Paramahansa Yoganandas Autobiography of a Yogi has brought about a change in the lives of millions of people all over the world. Paramahansaji through this book has introduced readers to the path to eternal bliss or God communion through the techniques given by the ancient yogis of India.
Swamiji then gave a brief introduction to these scientific, yet simple yoga techniques, referring to the chapter in Autobiography of a Yogi on Kriya Yoga. He explained how the rishis of ancient India may be called “the scientists of yoga.” Man’s search for freedom from pain and the attainment of true and lasting happiness is at the root of the quest for the yogic methods of experiencing the ever-existing, ever-conscious, ever-new Bliss that is within each one. Yoga meditation, said Swamiji, can help one to lead a balanced life of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
